What a day! The day started with frost, fog and no wind. The fog eventually lifted and the sun melted away the frost, but the wind was absent today. Difficult conditions with tricky birds late in the season. Nevertheless, there were many fine performances at today’s SWeiK special test at Isaksbo farm. I am so impressed by these young dogs, who are able to keep it together both in body, head and heart the whole day. They have became truly capable hunting dogs, beautiful to watch! Congratulations to all!

Snaiper girls Holiday and Sky continued their winning streak on Gotland this weekend. The weather conditions were challenging with no or very little wind and the wild birds were very light on their wings. Very few dogs made it through the qualifications during the weekend. Snaiper’s Holiday was rewarded with 1st prize in youth class on both days, Snaiper’s Sky got 2nd prize on Saturday and 1st prize on Sunday in open class. I’m so impressed by you all! Huge congratulations, well done!

It was a rainy day at the Swedish Weimaraner Club Field Trial at Långtora today, but the results were outstanding! Seven dogs achieved qualifications (four Weimaraners, one Bracco Italiano and two Brittanys), amongst Weimaraners three Snaiper’s siblings – Sårk 1st prize in open class (elite class next), Sky 1st prize and Seger (Leo) 2nd prize. Huge congratulations to all handlers and dogs that succeeded today and a very special shout out to Daniel Månsson with Leo! Thanks for being more determined and stubborn than your  powerful and driven dog. Quitters never win and winners never quit!

 

Welcome to Sweden sisters Tijehtele (Teddy) and Tribute (Tuva) les Grandes Maurières, our new stars at Snaiper’s. We had an opportunity to follow the breeder and professional trainer Guillaume Moreau and his team to French Open competition, where ca 80 continental pointers entered field trials. Pink, the mother of the puppies showed off with an excellent performance and was rewarded with Excellent and CACT, opening her autumn FT champion title. Many thanks to Guillaume for your commitment to the working Weimaraners and thank you for your trust! Teddy will stay with us and Tuva will stay at Ulrica’s, who also has Snaiper’s Sol.

Hunting moose in the north of Sweden, south of Dalarna. The regular dog handler with a specialist moose dog fell ill and the local hunting party asked if I could assist them finding the game. Thelma and Ray are regulars in driven hunt, but this time the grounds were vast, a lot of terrain to cover – the chance to find the right animal who would also pass a shooter would be quite slim. The dogs ran hard. Had to interrupt the hunt, we were called to track a wounded moose. The tracks led to the reeds and lake, we continued the search on the other shore. Finally found the wounded moose. Unfortunately it was a cow and now there was a calf by itself left behind. The priority shifted from hunting to finding the calf. Heli (Snaiper’s Himalaya, 15 months) found the lonely calf, but it passed two shooters without them getting a good shot. Continued next day and once again, Heli found the calf and bayed it to a shooter. Well done by the young dog.

Congratulations to Elisabeth Beskow with Snaiper’s Holiday aka Holly for achieving 1st prize in youth class at the Swedish Weimaraner Club field trial on Öland. Holly is the third from H-litter to earn J title (field trial merited). Worth mentioning is that the field trials on Öland are held on grounds with wild partridge and pheasant population. Well done!

Congratulations to Madelene Palmgren with Rory (Snaiper’s Hurricane) taking 2nd prize in youth class at SKF Field trials in Alingsås this weekend! So exciting to see how young dogs develop into hunting dogs. Well done! 

 

Huge congratulations to Tiina Turtola with Rudi (Snaiper’s Hannibal), taking 2nd prize at Junkkari! Rudi received also excellent on conformation. Junkkari is an annual event with field trial and conformation test for young (under 2 years) continental pointing dogs held in Finland. This year there were 360 entries. The success rate to receive an award at FT there is approx 10-15%. Rudi recently turned one year, it’s a huge accomplishment for such a young dog! Well done Tiina and Rudi!
