We took a trip to France and tried out their late autumn test with our French imports Teddy (Tjiehtele Des Grandes Maurieres) and Tuva (Tribute Des Grandes Maurieres). We had challenging conditions with a lot of rain and fog with no wind. We succeeded with quality assessment Excellent for Teddy and Tuva, Tuva was also rewarded with a national certificate CACT when she was ranked first in her party. The tests are different from what we are used to at home. The test lasts only 15 minutes and if the dog presents a good search, otherwise shorter – during this short time the dog must find birds, point and present the bird together with the handler, also complete steadiness to wing and shot is required. It was challenging for me with Teddy, who is used to Nordic flush, we need to train a different approach for the international tests. Regular quartering is a must, as well as high and steady speed without stopping during the quest. All dogs are tested in single run. Every day 60-90 continental dogs were entered to the trials, I’m really impressed by the organization and logistics around the arrangement. I’m very thankful that we got the opportunity to participate, hopefully we will be back next year!
Congratulations to siblings Signe (Snaiper’s Sol) 2nd prize in FT elite class and Sky (Snaiper’s Sky) 1st prize FT elite class at the Swedish Weimaraner Club field trial this Saturday. Well done and well deserved! Sky is already Swedish FT champion, nice to see she still got it!
Teddy (Tjiehtele Des Grandes Maurieres) qulified to elite class, 1st prize in open class and 1st prize in elite class FT. I’m happy with her performance, running in brace 60+ minutes, respecting roe deer, hare, backing her partner and steady to wing and shot.
The Swedish Weimaraner Club celebrated its 45th anniversary with a club show and club championship – working test and field trial on Gotland this time. We got to enjoy sunny days on the Gotland fields. Huge congratulations to Madelene Palmgren and Adam Dschulnigg for winning the club match titles, awesome and well done! Welcome to Sweden Otto! We have a new star – Southern Mist Marksman, aka Otto from US. Many thanks to breeder Paul Guay for the opportunity and trust! Otto is a son of Ray’s sister Sadie Mae in US, we know the lines very well and hope that Otto will become as accomplished hunter as his aunt Ray and uncle Evert. He was already showing som style only 6 months old on his first pheasant hunt, presenting two nice points where the birds could be shot for him, way to go Otto! Otto lives with our hunting buddy Adam Dschulnigg with family.
